As With Gladness, by William C. Dix, 1860
As with gladness, men of old
Did the guiding star behold,
As with joy they hailed its light
Leading onward, beaming bright:
So most gracious Lord, may we
Evermore be led by Thee!
As with joyful steps they sped
Saviour to Your lowly bed
There to bend the knee before
You Who heaven and earth adore
So may we with willing feet
Ever seek Your mercy-seat!
Holy Jesus, every day
Keep us in Your narrow way
And when earthly things are past
Bring our ransomed souls at last
Where we need no star to guide
Where no clouds Your Glory hide!

10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
Matthew 2 (NKJV)

The Magi who came to visit the Christ child are often called "wise men."

'And when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto Him gifts: gold and frankincense and myrrh.' Matthew 2:11.
God has a way of revealing Himself to men at their daily occupations. It may be the coal-pit or the wash-tub, the plough or the desk; that makes no difference to Him. If a man is really seeking God, he will surely find Him along the line of his daily toil.

We Three Kings, by John H. Hopkins, Jr 1857
1 We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
Following yonder star!
2 Born a King on Bethlehem's plain
Gold I bring to crown Him again
King forever, ceasing never
Over us all to rein!
3 Frankincense to offer have I
Incense owns a Deity nigh
Pray'r and praising, all men raising
Worship Him, God most high!
4 Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume
Breathes of life of gathering gloom
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying
Sealed in the stone-cold tomb!
O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to Thy perfect light!
5 Glorious now behold Him arise
King and God and Sacrifice
Alleluia, Alleluia
Earth to heav'n replies
